December 11, 2014, 7:30am-4:30pm
Portsmouth Harbor Events & Conference Center
Several NHCAW partners are planning an all-day conference on shoreline management. Participants will gain an understanding of shoreline management including:
- Why we do it
- Basic concepts and vocabulary
- Shoreline treatments available for New Hampshire’s diverse coastal shoreline and conditions
The conference will create an atmosphere where people can talk about the options and their perspectives, including dialogue about the advantages and disadvantages of different shoreline management options in the context of climate change and sea-level rise in NH using the sea-level rise and climate change scenarios developed for the New Hampshire Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission.Participants will understand how these changes impact shoreline management decisions and will be introduced to some of the best practices and cutting edge strategies for shoreline management that integrate the protection of municipal and state infrastructure with the protection and enhancement of coastal ecosystem as well as cultural and social resources. The engaging and informative conference will be held at the Portsmouth Harbor Events and Conference Center and registration includes a continental breakfast, all day coffee, and a hot lunch.
