Preparing for Climate Change for Seabrook, Hampton Falls, and Hampton Workshop #4: Community Rating System, Municipal Regulations Audit, and Education & Outreach

Who: Community members of Hampton, Hampton Falls, and Seabrook, including residents, businesses, town boards, staff and officials

When: October 8, 2014; 6-7:30pm

Where: Seabrook Public Library, 25 Liberty Lane, Seabrook, NH

What: Learn how the Community Rating System (CRS) works and provides saving on flood insurance to residents, how towns can get into CRS, and more. Through the Tides to Storms project, the Rockingham Planning Commission (RPC) will be doing a basic audit of municipal regulations and documents. Review the list of questions RPC will be addressing and add questions. Discuss a strategy for moving forward with education and outreach about marshes and common regulations.

This project is led by a local steering committee including members of the Seabrook-Hamptons Estuary Alliance. There is no cost to the communities participating. This project was funded by a federal grant from NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management under the Coastal Zone Management Act in conjunction with the NH Department of Environmental Services Coastal Program.
