King Tide is an especially high tide that occurs when the gravitational pull of the sun and moon reinforce one another. The next King Tide in the Seacoast will occur on October 9, 2014, peaking at 12:17pm. Take photos around the coast and upload them to Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #KingTidesNH. The photos collected during this one day photo contest coordinated by the Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership will be used to help local leaders, planners and communities identify coastal areas vulnerable to tidal flooding, visualize projected impacts from rising sea levels, and plan for tomorrow. The photos will be used in future publications, presentations and websites for the NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup partners.

On the evening of October 9 from 6-8pm all photographers and the public are invited to an Awards & Photo Show at the Seashell Ocean Pavilion at Hampton Beach for an event coordinated by the NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup partners.

More information and contest rules are available at PREP’s 2014 King Tide website
